Sam serves as the Director of Resident and Community Engagement. She is responsible for residence life programming; building and maintaining a network of partnerships, supports, and resources for our residents; and fostering community engagement.
Sam’s passion for supporting the I/DD community extends into both her personal and professional life. In 2014, she experienced the profound loss of her little brother, Daniel, who had intellectual and developmental disabilities coupled with severe medical complexities. Danny’s life fuels her advocacy for individuals with disabilities and dedication to creating thoughtful spaces where people with I/DD are valued, heard, and included. Prior to joining EmpowerMe Living, Sam dedicated five years of her career to teaching special education in two school districts in the greater Cincinnati area. A little fun fact, Sam was Luke Kendall’s very first preschool teacher!
Sam graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Special Education from Wittenberg University while playing softball. She also holds a master’s degree in Special Education from Xavier University.
